The Renovation Story
From the very beginning, we wanted to be a church that represented all that Jesus desired His Church to be for His glory. It was in the fall of 2014 that a group of 13 gathered in the living room of Jon and Tita Cockrell's home. There they first heard the vision for Renovation Church.
From that initial group, a team of about 100 dedicated vision carriers prepared for the launch of Renovation Church which began gathering at Topsail Middle School on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015.
God provided in such an incredible way throughout that first year with life changing stories and immediate impact by serving our local schools and reaching families in the community.
On Easter Sunday of 2016 we launched our 2nd gathering at 9:30am and 11am. It was not long before we were out of space. Two years later, God led us to make a bold move and launch at Topsail High School on June 3rd, 2018.
Since then, we've continued to see God lead us through tremendous growth and Kingdom minded impact. It is with clear focus on reaching our community with the love of Jesus that we continue in our mission of reaching every man, woman, and child!
Four words and actions of Jesus have served as our foundation: the Great Commission, the Great Commandment, Great Compassion, and Great Creativity.
The name Renovation comes from the Bible, in 2 Corinthians 5, where we see that with Jesus an old life is made new, renovated by the life-changing power that can only be found in him. It is in that scripture where he also compels his followers, his ambassadors in a lost and broken world, to reconcile people to Him.
We believe we have the ability to renovate communities, one life at a time, through the power of the gospel! In that mission, our story as a church is connected to a greater story for many communities to have repeated opportunities to hear, see and respond to the good news of Jesus Christ.
For Hampstead
Our Circle Of Accountability (COA) is the place/people for whom God has asked us to take responsibility. The Harvest is where we live, work and play. For Renovation Church, this is the 22,000 people within the 10 mile radius of Hampstead, NC. We believe that as a church we are accountable to the people of this area. This requires us to ask questions like: Who exactly lives in our COA? What are their hopes and dreams? What are their struggles? Their Needs?
The Harvest
Building a movement from the Harvest means providing opportunities for the convinced and unconvinced to serve and participate in community alongside one another. So how do we accomplish this? By engaging the community through events, Missional Community Groups, and living on mission within the Harvest.
““The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.”
For The Family
The Hampstead and Topsail area is full of growing families. Our prayer is that those families not simply survive but thrive. This is why we create environments on a Sunday that kids genuinely want to go to, it’s why our volunteer system supports families serving together and it’s why our community-wide events are geared towards reaching the family.
